Eligibility Verification Agent
Verify coverage before the visit, in seconds
Rinova checks upcoming appointments, retrieves available eligibility and benefit details through payer APIs and portal workflows, writes the results to the approved destination, and sends incomplete or uncertain cases to staff.
From scheduled appointment to verified benefits
Synthetic records only. No patient information.
Human review branch: see “Needs staff review”, where the agent stops and a person takes over.
A routine check where the payer returns every field the organization requires.

Payer API and portal availability varies. The agent uses an available API first and falls back to an approved portal workflow when the API response is incomplete.

Expected automation range, depending on payer mix
All major payers and many smaller plans, subject to available data and access
The exact automation rate depends on payer mix, plan type, data availability, portal access, and the information each organization requires.
What the agent can handle
- Reads upcoming appointment schedules at configured intervals
- Validates required patient and subscriber information before sending a request
- Uses payer APIs where available and agentic portal workflows where needed
- Retrieves active coverage status and available benefit information
- Captures copay, coinsurance, deductible, plan dates, and configured service details when the payer provides them
- Writes results to the approved EHR field, work queue, report, or another agreed destination
- Flags unsupported plans, unavailable fields, conflicting responses, and missing information
- Preserves source, timestamp, response, and action history for review
Payer support
Check eligibility verification support
Search for the payers your organization works with and add them to the table to see whether Rinova currently supports eligibility verification for each one. This covers both the full AI Agent Suite and the standalone Eligibility Verification Agent.
Search by payer name, alternate name, or payer ID. Use the arrow keys to move through results and Enter to add one.
No payers added yet
Search above and add the payers your organization works with. They will appear here with their current support status.
Payer availability can change. Contact Rinova to confirm current support and workflow requirements.
Data current as of October 6, 2026.
Clear answers for staff, clear reasons for exceptions
The agent does not hide incomplete data behind a success status. When a payer does not return a required field or the response conflicts with the information on file, the item enters a review queue with the source and missing detail shown.
Human review queue
Simulated workflow| Reason | Source checked | Last attempt | Recommended next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Missing subscriber ID | Payer API, then approved portal | 2 minutes ago | Confirm the member ID with the patient |
| Plan not supported by the payer source | Payer API | 6 minutes ago | Check coverage through the payer's alternate workflow |
| Response conflicts with the record | Approved payer portal | 11 minutes ago | Compare the plan on file with the payer response |
| Benefit field not returned | Payer API and approved portal | 18 minutes ago | Request the missing benefit detail before the visit |
Standalone Eligibility Verification
Start with one high-volume workflow
The Eligibility Verification Agent is available without the rest of the AI Agent Suite. It is a focused option for teams that want to reduce the time spent checking coverage and benefits while keeping the remainder of their billing operation unchanged.
Standalone deployment is typically about one week for eClinicalWorks and Modernizing Medicine and about two weeks for most other EHRs. Timing depends on system access, workflow requirements, and testing.
Eligibility Verification questions
No. Rinova supports all major payers and many smaller plans, but some niche or regional plans may not expose every required field. The expected automation range is approximately 60 to 90 percent, depending largely on payer mix and data availability.
It can use both. The workflow can call available eligibility APIs and use agentic technology to navigate approved payer portals when needed.
Results can be written to an approved EHR location, work queue, report, or another agreed destination. Rinova maps the destination during implementation.
The agent identifies the missing or conflicting field, records the sources checked, and routes the item to staff instead of marking it complete.
